Coming up on the big 1-0

Sorry that we haven't posted in awhile. Life has been busy for the humans, rescuing dogs, taking care of HOPE, and just life in general.

Hope's days are hit and miss. We still have trouble handling her but have learned that less is more. We had the groomer call us time before last because Hope was "ungroomable". I'd rather the groomer call and say that than force her (our groomer is wonderful). We were able to bring her in, sedated, last week. While she wasn't able to clip her as she would like, the perfectionist groomer, she looks great and we are so happy with how she looks and how she is treated by Hellen and her staff (Fins & Feathers in Red Bank, NJ).

We've also had our share of ups and downs for Hope's health. She has bouts of indigestion and pain in her stomach. She will do the signature down-ward dog pose for lengths of time, shiver, cry, and refuse food. We have talked to her vet, other vets, our friend who is a canine nutritionist, and come up with nausea as a possible cause. Why, we can't figure out yet. She still refuses food often so we have a large selection of foods for her to reject. :)

We love her, we can't imagine life without her. Every day I can't get over how adorable she, how naughty she is, how much of a little imp she is - she makes us laugh, cry, and brings out compassion that we sometimes forget is important. On January 5th, she will celebrate what we think is her 10th year of life. On January 9th we will celebrate our anniversary of being together.

Thank you, Hope, for letting us love you - and for letting us keep our fingers, so far.
